Inova's Heart and Vascular Institute is based in Falls Church Virginia and is part of an integrated 5-hospital health system that serves the Washington, DC metro area. Through the work of top physician researchers, we focus on improving patient outcomes with personalized therapies. IHVI provides services covering all aspects of complex cardiovascular medicine under the leadership of CEO Christopher O'Connor, MD. Research is a differentiating factor in IHVI’s depth of service offerings. This is demonstrated through our participation in a variety of clinical trials, investigator-initiated research and academic contributions. Facilities include the Center for Thrombosis Research and Drug Development; a 24 bed Clinical Trials Unit; and, a dedicated research laboratory where Phase I - IV pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic, and genetic studies are conducted. Our reference proteomics laboratory offers in-vitro diagnostic testing to industry seeking independent core reference laboratory testing for clinical trials and assay validation studies pursuing regulatory approval as well as investigator based studies seeking insight into mechanisms of disease, prognosis and guidance of therapy.
