Inova Heart and Vascular Institute (IHVI) partners with pharmaceutical and medical device companies to investigate novel therapies. Through the work of top cardiac, vascular and pulmonary physician researchers, we focus on improving patient outcomes. Under the leadership of Christopher O'Connor, MD, IHVI’s clinical capabilities cover the full spectrum of complex cardiovascular care from medical evaluation and diagnostic testing to the most innovative minimally invasive surgical techniques and complex open surgeries, including heart and lung transplantation. Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, located just outside of Washington, DC in Falls Church, VA, is home to IHVI’s dedicated heart hospital which serves as the hub of the system’s cardiovascular services. A range of IHVI services are available at all five Inova hospitals as well as through a large network of outpatient physician practice sites and noninvasive vascular and cardiac diagnostic imaging locations. Our facilities also house a reference proteomics laboratory offering in-vitro diagnostic testing to provide insight into mechanisms of disease, prognosis and guidance of therapy.
