In addition, Guthrie delivered $74.5 million in community benefit by providing charity care, supporting patient care through Medicare and Medicaid, and addressing community health needs.

“Guthrie is proud of its continuous and valuable contribution to the communities it serves,” said Guthrie President and CEO Dr. Edmund Sabanegh. “As the largest employer in Bradford County, Pa., we make a vital and positive contribution to the local economy. Our mission is to support the residents we employ while providing the highest quality care to our communities.”

Statewide, Pennsylvania hospitals delivered $9 billion in community benefit during fiscal year 2022 and—both directly and through ripple effects—supported their communities and the commonwealth by:

    • Contributing $182 billion to the state and local economies.
    • Supporting more than 590,000 jobs throughout the entire commonwealth.

To preserve access to high-quality care, good-paying jobs, and economic opportunity, we must make a long-term commitment to support and grow patient care teams and ensure hospitals can sustainably serve their communities.”
