International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE)

Since 1928, IAEE continues to provide quality and value to its members through leadership, service, education and strong relationships. IAEE is the largest association of the exhibitions and events industry in the world, with a membership of show organizers, exhibitors and exhibition suppliers. Organizers of more than 20,000 exhibitions and buyer-seller events around the world are members of IAEE. Through the 2006 consolidation with the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR), IAEE delivers valuable industry research reports. IAEE also supports IAEE Services, the IAEE Public Events Council, The International Center for Exhibitor and Event Marketing, and the Exhibition and Event Industry Audit Commission, which are IAEE councils that provide products, programs and information to members.

Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA)

The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) is the source for education, professional resources and advocacy for the meeting, convention and exhibition industry. Founded in 1957, PCMA represents more than 6,000 meeting management professionals from associations, non-profit organizations, corporations, independent meeting planning companies, multi-management firms, and association executives who recognize the importance of meetings to their organization. PCMA provides members with the tools they need to succeed as meeting professionals and to promote the value of the industry to their organizations and the general public. Headquartered in Chicago, PCMA has 17 chapters throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Health Academy

Tracing its roots to focused health care-related activities within the PRSA as early as the 1970s, the Health Academy was formed in 1989 to promote excellence in communications and an educational dialogue across the entire health care industry for the professional enhancement of its members. The Academy is not an advocate for any medical or medically-related industry position, issue or focus, but offers its members an opportunity to address the latest issues facing health care public relations and the health care industry. Members of the Health Academy represent organizations across the widest spectrum of health care-related activities.

Convene is the magazine of the Professional Convention Management Association. Convene’s stated primary goal, like PCMA’s, is to enhance the effectiveness of meetings, conventions, and exhibitions through industry education. Convene is published 12 times a year. The magazine has articles on aspects of meeting management such as housing and room block management, convention centers, technology, legal issues, contract negotiation, crisis and emergency management, education and learning, marketing, food and beverage, career and professional development, and industry research and statistics. A yearly subscription to Convene magazine is $50 USD for domestic subscribers and $99 USD for subscriptions outside of the United States. PCMA members automatically receive Convene as part of their membership fee. Trade Show Executive
The mission of Trade Show Executive magazine is to provide news, views and tools to the managers of shows large and small, in every industry from automotive to medical to woodworking, so that show executives can turn innovative ideas into a competitive edge. Many of the associations and publications listed above conduct research as well. For example, the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) publishes the Industry Research Report on Healthcare Meetings and Exhibit Marketing, which provides “data-driven evidence to better plan your marketing strategies for reaching professionals at medical meetings,” while Convene magazine’s annual Meetings Market Survey “paints the most comprehensive picture of the meetings market, courtesy of hundreds of professional PCMA members, who provide extensive input in response to a detailed questionnaire.”

Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR)
The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) is a non-profit organization with the mission of advancing the growth, awareness and value of exhibitions and other face-to-face marketing events by producing and delivering research-based knowledge tools. Founded in 1978 as the Trade Show Bureau, CEIR has become the foremost source of research, information and communication on exhibitions.

Exhibit Surveys

HCEA Annual Meeting
